"This is the most practical book on 'doing well by doing good' that I have ever read. My only hesitation in recommending it is that I may find myself competing against another investor who has read it because of my recommendation."--Dr. Gary North, Remnant Review
"With foreclosures at an all time high, there’s never been a better opportunity to buy good real estate at a bargain price. John Schaub, my favorite real estate guru for 30 years, shows you how to do it without getting into trouble. This book is a gold mine of how to buy real estate cheaply and profitably. Most other real estate gurus do one or the other, but not both!¨"
--Mark Skousen, Editor, Forecasts & Strategies"John is the master of Real Estate Investing. His books show the reader how to build a successful investment business. Building Wealth Buying Foreclosures could not be more timely. This easy to understand and friendly book is a must for anyone desiring to achieve wealth through Real Estate."

About the author

John Schaub has prospered during six recessions, four tax law changes and
interest rates ranging from 3-16% in his 50 years as a real estate investor. His
2023 best selling book Building Wealth One House at a Time, 3rd edition, has
helped more than 100,000 real estate enthusiasts on their way to successful
investing.
John recommends buying better, well-located houses rather than cheaper
houses and other management-intensive properties. Better houses are more
profitable and far less trouble. He advocates paying off debt, owning properties
free and clear, and renting only to long term, high quality tenants.
John buys, sells and manages his own properties, and enjoys providing quality
housing at fair prices for working families in his community.
John also invests his time helping those who cannot afford to buy a home
through conventional sources through his work with Habitat for Humanity and the
Fuller Center for Housing. John served for more than 20 years on the board of
Sarasota Habitat, 7 years on Habitat’s International Board and is the past chair of
the board of the Fuller Center for Housing.
John, a Florida native, is a proud graduate of the University of Florida, where he
earned his B.S. from the College of Business Administration. He is an
accomplished boat captain, fisherman, skier and an instrument-rated pilot. John
loves to travel, especially with his wife Valerie, their children and grandchildren.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2011I had read all of John Schaub's books a couple years ago, but after spending a weekend with John and Peter Fortunato in Tampa recently I looked back through the book again.
This book is a great read, it is very easy to follow along and provides an excellent path to wealth-building using real estate. I highly recommend John's books and his seminars to all investors.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2009I have been a real estate investor for 34 years now. I have been a subscriber to John Schaub's Newsletter "Strategies and Solutions" for over 5 years as well as having attended two John Schaub seminars. He is someone that is a hands on investor I trust and respect. He still owns rental properties. His information about foreclosures is sincere and spoken from the hard knocks of years of hands on real estate investing!! I highly recommend his book on foreclosures to others who wish to achieve financial freedom by investing in real estate!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2009If you plan to participate in the greatest real estate investment buying opportunity of our generation over the next several years, then you cannot afford to miss John Schaub's latest book "BUILDING WEALTH BUYING FORECLOSURES". Written by one of the true legends in the real estate investing education business, John lays out a very simple, straightforward, and extremely well thought out plan.
After being inspired by this book I personally have purchased four foreclosure properties in the right locations, at excellent terms, at less than replacement costs, that will make me a fortune through this next real estate cycle.
A Must Read For Any Serious Real Estate Investor Today.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2015I know John he is a member of our Real Estate Investment group in Sarasota Florida. He has a lot of experience (I think 40 years) behind him and does not get funding from banks. This is a very good book and it allows the reader to think outside of the box. I know John will read this and ask me why I didn't give him 5 stars, just the same if you are serious about investing in Real Estate you need to own this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2018I would like to start investing in real estate. I have been reading and researching a ton about it and thought this book would be worth it. Maybe I could gain some more knowledge on foreclosures...NOPE. I finished this book in maybe a half hour. Most of the book you do not need to even read just skim through it and you will get the point. I wasted $30 on this when I could have bought other books on the subject.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2018I liked this book
- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2008I thought there would be alittle more info in this book considering the author sells real estate training info. I perfered book on forclosures by Lucier.

2.0 out of 5 stars a bit disappointed
i did not know what to expect from this book because being unable to sift through the contents before buying. I read till now third of the book but my iimpresion is that buying houses is easier than buying bonds, which is not. i hardly manage my own house let alone more. if it is true i admire such persons for being ultra clever and comitted to this niche.
